About / Bio
I believe that women are able to birth their baby's safely with minimal to no interference, that is, if you feel confident and strong in your ability to give birth. As your doula I support, encourage and empower you throughout pregnancy, labor, birth and during the postnatal period. The choices you make for your own birth experience will be respected and supported. I have recently completed by doula studies with childbirth international however I have been working as a medical anthropologist largely in the international aid and development sector for the past 10 years. I am a specialist in reproductive and sexual health, HIV & AIDS and safe motherhood. Much of this work has involved midwifery up skilling training and capacity building of traditional birth attendants and rural health workers in South East Asia, Africa and the Pacific. I am now working full time as a doula based in Melbourne, Australia. I provide my services for free to teenage mothers and clients from CALD backgrounds particularly refugee mothers.
