About / Bio
I service the Latrobe valley/Gippsland region and surrounding areas. My passion for birth started when I was only 6 years old after I attended the first of my 4 sister's births. I feel honoured to provide women, like you, and your family, with the support that you want and need throughout your pregnancy, birth and beyond. I am experienced with many different sorts of birth ranging from highly medicated inductions and VBAC (vaginal birth after caesarean), to completely drug free homebirths. Ensuring that parents are fully informed during any decision making process is vital, as well as encouraging the birthing mother to trust in herself and her ability. I believe that the presence of a skilled doula can enhance a woman's birth experience, by creating an environment which is secure and nurturing and in which she feels safe and confident.
I will meet with you two or three times before the birth to get to know you and your birth plan. I will then support you from the onset of established labour (or whenever you need my support) until a couple of hours after your baby is born. After the birth I pay a final visit to debrief on the experience and answer any questions you may have. In addition to our face to face meetings, which usually last at least an hour, I am available to you at all times by phone or email. I also have quite an array of books available for you to borrow.
I have a quite extensive library of books as well as some CDs and DVDs available for borrowing.
